Aiming to present projects and opportunities related to the world’s largest sport event, the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games participated in the 11th edition of the International Fair of Technologies for Rehabilitation, Inclusion and Accessibility, Reatech, the largest of its type in Latin America, held from 12 to 15 April at Imigrantes Convention Centre, in São Paulo.
Inclusion and accessibility were some of the topics addressed at the three presentations made by Rio 2016™ collaborators. Integration specialist Eliana Mutchnik talked about the Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games project, followed by Human Resources Director Henrique Gonzalez and Human Resources Manager Maria Helena Rangel, who talked about the Programme for Hiring People with Disabilities. And to finish the session, Procurement Director Fernando Cotrim and Procurement Specialist Bruno Khon talked about the Rio 2016™ Procurement Policy and requirements for the hiring of suppliers.
The 234m² CPB (Brazilian Paralympic Committee) stand at Reatech, where the presentations were held, was located in the heart of the fair. The Brazilian Paralympic Committee offered visitors direct contact with some of the leading figures of Brazil’s parasport in signing sessions with Paralympic athletes. The spectators also had the opportunity to hear several talks about Paralympic sport and try out Judo, Sitting Volleyball, Football 5-a-side and Goalball.
During the four days of the fair, the Rio 2016™ Paralympic Games sculpture, launched in November 2011, was also displayed in the stand space for a sensory experience of the public. Until 2016, the sculpture of the Paralympic Games emblem will be taken to several parts of Brazil for Rio 2016™ calendar events, extending the reach of the Games in the country.
