Rio 2016 presents progress report to the IOC Executive Board

By Rio 2016

President Carlos Arthur Nuzman showed details of the organizing committee structuring process and spoke about the beginning of the creative process to develop the Games emblem

Rio 2016 presented on Tuesday, June 22, its Progress report to the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The steps forward of the work of the organizing committee since the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games were detailed for the first time to the IOC Executive Board. During the presentation, Rio 2016 president Carlos Arthur Nuzman explained the implementation of the organizing committee’s structure, including its organizational model and the next steps in the appointment of directors. Nuzman also provided details about the selection process to create the Games emblem, which began in May. The Games’ time logo is expected to be presented on December 31, during the New Year´s party in Copacabana. The participation on the IOC Observers Program at the Vancouver 2010 Games, last February, and during the debrief in Sochi, early in June, were also presented. “We showed the Executive Board the evolution of our work since Vancouver and how we are benefiting from the best practices of other organizing committees. For instance, our team participated in more than 85 sessions and workshops during the Vancouver 2010 debrief. We gathered valuable information and will certainly make good use of them as we prepare our Games Foundation Plan”, said Nuzman. Nuzman also explained the process to create the Olympic Delivery Authority (APO in Portuguese) and finished his 20-minute presentation commenting on the development of the three levels of government in the areas of security and transportation. The Organizing Committees of the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore 2010 and for the London 2012 Olympic Games also presented their progress reports on Tuesday.
