Mario Andrada, Rio 2016 Communications Director, presents Games coverage planning together with Press Operations Team (Rio 2016/Alex Ferro)
In 2016, around 25 thousand media professionals are expected in Rio de Janeiro in order to cover the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Little less than three years before the opening ceremony, more than 170 media professionals from Brazil and the world are in town to participate in the first edition of the World Press Briefing, an event organised by the Rio 2016 Committee to present the coverage plan for the world’s greatest sporting event. The meeting takes place on 22-23 October at the Committee’s headquarters in Rio’s Cidade Nova neighbourhood.
The event is aimed at presenting the details of Games-time press operations planning, including issues related to logistics, accommodation, transport as well as the entire technological and services infrastructure offered by the Main Press Centre (MPC), currently under construction in Barra da Tijuca neighbourhood. The event’s programme also includes visits to venues and competitions zones as well as to Rio Art Museum (MAR in Portuguese) and Maracanã Stadium.
