Rio 2016 presentation at ACNO deserved much applause

By Rio 2016

The Rio 2016 Olympic Games made an excellent appearance at the National Olympic Committees General Assembly - ACNO, in Acapulco, Mexico. On Thursday, October 21, as progress report delivered by Organizing Committee resident Carlos Arthur Nuzman ended, the preparation of Rio 2016 Olympic Games deserved much applause from the representatives of the approximately 200 countries attending the event. Before Rio2016 presentation, the candidate cities to host 2018 Winter Games – Munich (Germany), Annecy (France) and PyeongChang (South Korea) – presented their projects to ACNO participants. “While listening to the presentations by the three cities I recalled all the emotions of Rio’s bid and of the award to host the Games. I wish the best of luck to the three cities”, Nuzman told participants. During his presentation Nuzman underlined the progress made by Games organization since the award on October 2, 2009. “Positive results were achieved along this first year of work. Rio 2016 Organizing Committee was officially established, several meetings were held with the IOC, and we also had the first visit of IOC Evaluation Commission, in May. Our work includes learning, observing and exchanging experiences with London 2012. We are meeting the terms established by the IOC, and fully confident about the next steps to be taken in order to deliver an excellent edition of the Olympic Games”, Nuzman explained. The President of the Organizing Committee for Rio 2016 also highlighted the beginning of the required transportation works, the launching of the commercial plan, in November, and the unveiling of Rio 2016 Olympic Games logo, on the night of December 31, to be witnesses by the president of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge.
