Rio 2016 is the subject of a presentation during the European Olympic Committees General Assembly

By Rio 2016

Representatives of 49 countries convened for the event in Portugal

Rio’s winning bid to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games was the subject of the presentation delivered by the president of Rio 2106 Games Organizing Committee Carlos Arthur Nuzman at the European Olympic Committees General Assembly. Held in Lisbon, Portugal, the General Assembly ended on Saturday, November 28.

Before representatives of 49 countries, Nuzman remarked that Rio’s Olympic project started ten years ago with the bid to host 2007 Pan American Games. The preparation of Rio 2016 bid file, involving more than 600 experts, the international campaign and the careful preparation for the IOC Evaluation Commission visit were also highlighted in the presentation. “Along our two-year campaign our team attended all major Olympic events. The joint support by the three levels of government was also key to securing the 2016 Games for Rio”, Nuzman said.
