Rio 2016 Committee President, Carlos Arthur Nuzman and Cup 2014 Committee President, Ricardo Teixeira, took part, along with Mayor Eduardo Paes, in the most important phase of the implementation of the BRT Transoeste (Bus Rapid Transit) express way – the first explosion for the opening of the Grota Funda tunnel. Transoeste is one of the four BRTs that is a part of the road package to prepare the city for the 2016 Olympic Games. With the construction of the Transoeste, the journey of the local population between Barra and Santa Cruz will be 150% faster at peak hour, benefiting thousands of people, recalled Carlos Nuzman, Rio 2016 President. “This project is one more demonstration of Mayor Eduardo Paes commitment concerning the guarantees given to the International Olympic Committee at the time of Rio´s candidature to the Games. I am happy with this intervention, which helps the city welcome the Games and improves the population life quality.” stated Nuzman.
