Rio 2016 at Vancouver 2010 Winter Games
Representatives of Rio Organizing Committee for 2016 Games have already arrived in Vancouver to follow the Olympic Winter Games that will start on Friday, February 12. On Thursday the 11th, at 5 pm (Brasília time) the Rio team will deliver the first Progress Report at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) session before the Opening of the Games. Along the 17 days of competitions, Rio 2016 will be part involved in the Observers Program. The Progress Report presents the progress of the work developed by Rio 2016 Committee and the three levels of government in the last four months. The report will show the results of the Orientation Seminar (October 2009) and of the Coordination Commission visit (January 2010), besides the advancement of the work in areas such as infrastructure and security. In the Observers Program, Rio 2016 staff and representatives of the three levels of government will get to know the organization of the operation of the various Games segments. Representatives of London 2012, 2012, Socchi 2014 and 2018 Winter Games candidate cities - Annecy, Munich and Pyeongchang will also join the group. “The Observers Program represents a unique opportunity to talk to other organizing committees. The experience of staging the Olympic Games is unique in all areas”, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, the president of Rio 2016 Committee explained. Established by the IOC after Atlanta 96 Games, the Observers Program has now reached its sixth edition. The objective of this Program is to allow participants to observe the organization of the Olympic Games in real time, on site, and an exchange of information between the Organizing Committees that have now reached different stages of preparation. Program sessions include talks and guided visits.
