Rio 2016 Bid Committee is already in Beijing to take part in the General Assembly of the National Olympic Committees ACNO. The Brazilian delegation headed by President Carlos Arthur Nuzman (in the picture with Marketing Director Leonardo Gryner and General Secretary Carlos Roberto Osorio), will use the opportunity to contact International Olympic Committee members and receive suggestions for Rios campaign.
The ACNO Assembly will start on April 7 with meetings and presentations scheduled April 10th . The Assembly is composed of 205 National Olympic Committees from the five continents and convened for the first time in 1965, in Rome (Italy). But, it was only established as a legal entity in 1979, in San Juan (Puerto Rico).
Now chaired by Mexican Mario Vasquez Ranã ACNO was established with the purpose of representing NOCs interests before the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games, for which the National Olympic Committees hold exclusive athlete entry rights. The last Assembly was held in Athens, 2004. In 2000, the ACNO event was held in Rio de Janeiro.
