The mayors of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, and of Vancouver, Gregor Robertson, signed on Saturday, the 27th, an Olympic cooperation deal. The document predicts the exchange of information, experience and interaction between the technical teams of the “Carioca” city, that will host the 2016 Olympic Games, and the Canadian city, which is hosting this edition of the Winter Olympic Games, which ends this Sunday, the 28th. The event was carried out at the Vancouver city hall and was attended by the president of Rio 2016 Games Organizing Committee, Carlos Arthur Nuzman. For Eduardo Paes, the 2010 Winter Games were an example of respect and appreciation for the environment. “The environmental model of the Vancouver Games should be seen as an inspiration for Rio. Since the beginning they were worried about this issue, investing in ecological constructions that saved water and energy. Their concern for making the greenest Games in history should also be ours”, said Rio’s mayor. Apart for the meeting with the mayor of Vancouver, Eduardo Paes and Carlos Arthur Nuzman met with the executive director of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Gilbert Felli and visited the TV and Media Centers built for the winter Games.
