Brazilian native Adilson da Silva will be the first to tee off in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games golf competition on Thursday at 7:30 am. Da Silva's shot will mark golf's return to the Games after 112 years.
"It was a big surprise, I didn't have any idea. I can't say I won't be nervous," Da Silva said. "For us to start golf again at home in the Olympics is something I could never imagine."
Canada's Graham Daleat will tee off second. The last time golf was a part of the Olympic Games in 1904, Canadian George Lyon won the gold medal. South Korea's An Byeong Hun will also join da Silva and Daleat's group.
Two-time US Masters champion Bubba Watson will tee off at 9:14 am. Germany's Martin Kaymer will also join Watson's group, along with India's two-time European tour winner Anirban Lahiri.
Great Britain's Danny Willett, the reigning US Masters champion, and the USA's Matt Kuchar tee off at 9:03 am. And, fresh from his 2016 Open Championship victory, will be Sweden's Henrick Stenson who will play in the day's final group. The USA's Rickie Fowler and Great Britain's Justin Rose begin at 10:58 am.
