Rio 2007 Pan-American Games received three nominations in the Emmy Awards, the Oscar of American television. The Opening Ceremony competes in three categories: Best Costume Design, Best Set/Art Direction and Best Light Effects. Winners will be announced in June.
For the chairman of Rio 2007 Organizing Committee and Rio 2016 Candidacy Committee, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, the nominations confirm the quality and beauty presented by the Games' Opening Ceremony in June of last year.
- It was an unforgettable spectacle that deserves to be recognized by specialists. The nominations make us feel proud and encouraged to continue working to promote the sport and everything else that it represents in terms of show and entertainment - said Nuzman.
