Eight highlights not to miss at Rio 2016 on Tuesday 9 August
It’s day 4 at Rio 2016. Here are some highlights to look out for.

Tough to beat
Women’s water polo starts at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Centre, where the powerhouse USA team take on Spain in a repeat of the London 2012 gold medal match, won 8-5 by the Americans. USA are world champions and the only team to have won a medal at all four Olympic Games since the women’s competition was introduced.
Handball heavyweights
Nikola Karabatic and four of his team-mates can become the first men's handball players to win three consecutive Olympic gold medals, if they live up to the expectations as favourites at Rio 2016. They take on Qatar at 9.30pm in a rematch of the 2015 world championship final, which France won. See this handy guide to the rules of handball.
More Simone Biles
After wowing us with some fantastic athleticism in qualifying on day two, Simone Biles and the USA team return to the Rio Olympic Arena, this time intending to collect the golden bling goodies in artistic gymnastics. Three-time reigning world champions the USA (2011, 2014, 2015) have won an Olympic medal in this event at each of the past six Olympic Games (1992-2012).

Olympic Boulevard is humming
The ‘Olympic Boulevard’ was humming with the buzz of the Games over the weekend, and has quickly evolved into a party zone. The big screen and live music is proving popular, and taking a few selfies in front of the record-breaking street art mural is an opportunity not to be missed. One or two USA basketball stars were spotted sauntering along there, during their time off on Sunday evening.
Phelps's gold medal hunt continues
Michael Phelps goes for more gold at the Olympic Aquatics Centre on Tuesday night. The 31-year-old won his 19th Olympic gold medal with a superb performance in the men's 4x100m freestyle on Sunday night, and next up is the men's 200m butterfly.

Equestrian medals will be awarded in team (10am) and individual (2pm) events on the final day of the eventing competition at the Olympic Equestrian Centre. Michael Jung of Germany, and his horse Sam FBW, hold every title in eventing and come ranked no.1 in the world. Eventing is a triathlon of dressage, a cross-country course over six kilometres with 45 jumping efforts over solid fences, and jumping over movable obstacles of up to 1.3m on the final day.
Cool down with some ice skating
The novelty of ice skating outdoors in one of the world's most celebrated tropical cities is probably worth the long queues. The Swiss have gone all out to make their house (see video below) one of the most popular destinations during the Games.
Medals galore
Other medal highlights, all in the afternoon and evening, include canoe slalom, diving, fencing, shooting, judo and weightlifting.
