On Monday, 5/9, Carlos Nuzman, the president of the Rio 2016 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, attended the annual meeting of the International Olympic Truce Foundation (IOTC), in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IOTC was founded by the International Olympic Committee in July 2000 with the chief purpose of promoting peace through sport and supporting initiatives branded by the Olympic values of Friendship and Respect towards the development of a society that values mutual respect and understanding. This year Nuzman has joined the group of IOTC executive directors.

“The transformation of our society is one of the most important legacies from Rio 2016 Games to Brazil. Today youths living in Rio pacified favelas can walk freely around their communities. In many of these communities, the Olympic villages are relevant centres of incentive to sport practice and tools for youth transformation. This is major achievement. This is Truce Foundation’s motto, transformation through sport, for peace”, Nuzman said in his presentation.

Already in Geneva on Tuesdays May 10, Carlos Nuzman delivered a presentation about Rio 2016 Games legacy at the UN headquarters.
