On November 11, the President of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Organizing Committee, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, was received by Israeli President, Shimon Peres. During the meeting, which lasted 45 minutes and was held at his official residence in Jerusalem, Peres expressed interest in learning more about the Rio 2016 Project and received an invitation from Nuzman to travel to Rio de Janeiro to watch the Games. “We also spoke about Brazil's growing importance within the international scenario and President Peres pointed out Israel's advances in the areas of science and technology, considered key to development,” said Nuzman. Accompanied by Alex Gilady, member of the International Olympic Committee, Nuzman also presented the Games project to a group of executives in Tel Aviv, and met with the Israeli Minister of Industry, Trade and Employment, Binyamin Be-Eliezer, to discuss aspects of infrastructure and technology related to the Games. The President of the Rio 2016 Committee and the Brazilian Olympic Committee also met with the Minister of Culture and Sports, Limor Livnat, and with the president of the Israeli Olympic Committee, Zvj Varshaviak, to debate possible agreements and partnerships in the area of sports.
