Polish Olympic Games fans enjoy dancing masterclass at Museum of Samba

In Rio for the Olympic Games, these Polish fans were soon moving their feet and swivelling their hips in samba time

Rio de Janeiro has always been a mixing pot of cultures. During the 2016 Olympic Games the Marvellous City has been enthusiastically bringing together peoples and traditions from around the world.

In between the sports events at Rio 2016, the world’s tourists have been getting out and about to discover the many facets of Rio’s rich and diverse culture. One of the city's most famous cultural products is samba, the frenetic dance style that has its roots in Brazil’s African culture and is the soul of the world famous Rio Carnival.

Rio 2016 presenter Elea caught up with some Olympic visitors all the way from Poland as they had their first experience of samba. And there’s perhaps no better place to do it than the Museum of Samba, next door to internationally renowned samba school, Mangueira.

The Polish group were treated to a master class from two of the samba school’s star performers. Check out how they fared. Perhaps it will inspire you to get out and have your own samba experience – at the end of the day, it is the rhythm of Rio!
