With less than one month until the opening ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the host city is busily applying the finishing touches to its preparations for welcoming the world.

The city is being decorated with the colours of the Games, spectators are being advised how they can travel around town and reach the venues, while security plans are being put into action and the world's media are arriving.

How to plan a last-minute trip to the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games

At the end of June, the city government handed over to the Rio 2016 organising committee the keys to the velodrome, the last of the newly built Olympic venues. The indoor cycling track was then successfully tested by Brazilian and international cyclists. All 37 venues that will host the Games are being 'Olympified', with the official Rio 2016 design being added and operations fine tuned.
