At the close of Olympic Week, nine athletes and a coach who represented Brazil in various editions of the Olympic Games will publicize the key points the of Rio 2016 Candidature as they run along the streets of Rio de Janeiro. Adriana Samuel (silver in beach volleyball at Atlanta 96 and bronze at Sydney 2000), Bruno Prada (silver in sailing in Beijing in 2008), Cyro Delgado (bronze in the 4x200m Relay at Moscow 80), Jaqueline Silva (gold in beach volleyball at Atlanta 96), Miguel Ângelo da Luz (coach of the silver medal winning women's basketball team in Atlanta  96), Nalbert (volleyball gold at Athens in 2004), Nelson Prudêncio (silver in the triple jump at Mexico City 68 and bronze in Munich 72), Paulinho Vilas Boas (fifth in basketball in Seoul 88 and Barcelona  92), Sebastian Pereira (fifth in judo at Atlanta 96) and Vanderlei Cordeiro de Lima (bronze in the marathon in Athens 2004) make up the team for the Rio 2016 "Family Run", part of the Rio Marathon, which takes place this Sunday, 28th at 8am.

The "Family Run" is a race of six kilometers which will take place simultaneously alongside the Rio Marathon. The Rio 2016 team will act in relay: each athlete will run 600 meters carrying the heart shaped logo of the candidature which, in place of a traditional baton, will be passed from hand to hand. "This relay is a symbol of support for the Rio de Janeiro Olympic project by athletes from different generations. There’s no one better than athletes and coaches to evaluate the plans for the Games. The Rio Marathon is a great festival of sport and the Rio 2016 Relay will be a wonderful conclusion to Olympic Week, which celebrated the values of the Olympic Movement throughout the country," said Carlos Arthur Nuzman, president of the Rio 2016 Committee.

Olympic champion in Athens 2004, Nalbert will make his debut in a running race. "As a Brazilian and carioca, I want to see the Olympics take place in Rio de Janeiro. I will do whatever I can to help make this campaign a success," said Nalbert, who currently plays beach volleyball.

The yachtsman Bruno Prada will also change his sport on Sunday morning to show his support for the project. "All athletes have to help Brazil in this contest. I will make my contribution. The distance is not too great and it is going to be run at an enjoyable pace," joked Bruno.

The relay closes the Rio 2016 Olympic Week celebrations, which has seen events in eight Brazilian cities: Rio de Janeiro (RJ), São Paulo (SP), Brasília (DF), Vitória (ES), Aracaju (SE), Barra Mansa ( RJ), São José do Rio Preto (SP) and Boa Vista (RR). Activities included races, sports clinics, lectures, exhibitions, videos, theatre, sports activities and photographic exhibitions.
