Nuzman visits the President of the Brazilian Senate and thanks him for the Olympic Act
On Wednesday, November 18, the president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee and of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games Rio 2016 Carlos Arthur Nuzman visited the President of the Brazilian Senate José Sarney. During the meeting, Nuzman thanked Senate President for the approval of the Olympic Act, a document that played a leading role in the victorious Rio’s bid to host Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games 2016. The Olympic act is a guarantee of the delivery of the Games offered by the National Congress. Nuzman was accompanied by the chairman of BOC Commission of Athletes Bernard Rajzman.

“This document was critical, since it represents a guarantee of the delivery of the Olympic Games offered by the National Congress. According to the president of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge, Rio de Janeiro was the only city to submit an Olympic Act. This added a significant amount of credibility to the project and played a decisive role in our award. I am here today to in recognition to you support and to thank you personally for your support to the signature of the Olympic Act,”, Nuzman told Sarney. The President of the Senate reciprocated by saying: “I am well used to election processes and I can say that you have done an excellent job”.

During the meeting Nuzman also explained that along the next seven years the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games Rio 2016 will need support from the Congress for the release of grants, either for venue works or for the organization of the event itself. “This support will be critical in our journey towards 2016”, Nuzman explained. “We are aware of this need and I guarantee you that the National Congress will provide all the necessary support”, Senator José Sarney declared.
