London is calling, and Rio 2016™ official website gets in the mood! One day before the Opening Ceremony of the world’s biggest sport event, the portal gets a new look, new contents and a special coverage on the days prior to the great moment: the handover of the Olympic Flag to Rio de Janeiro!

On 12 August, London 2012 closing date, the Cidade Maravilhosa becomes the Olympic City.  Until then, the world may get a taste of the city and the country at Casa Brasil, coloring in green and yellow the traditional Somerset House located on the banks of the Thames River in the British capital.

Several cultural events will take place in the reference point for Brazilians in London. On the webpage, the public finds all the details on Casa Brazil’s agenda and take a virtual tour to three art and design exhibitions: “From the Margin to the Edge: Brazilian Art and Design in the XXI Century”, “Passion and Transformation: a unique experience through sport” and “Brasil, a hora é essa!”.

In addition to the daily coverage of Casa Brasil on Rio 2016™ Blog, the official website shows a little bit of the experience of the 153 collaborators of the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee who will participate in the Observer Programme in London. There will be news, interviews, photos and videos about the experience and knowledge generated in the most diverse areas. This is the last opportunity to observe the Summer Olympic Games before 2016.

At last, the Cidade Maravilhosa section makes its debut in the new version of the official website. The area brings texts and photos on Rio de Janeiro’s history, the carioca cultural diversity, typical dishes and the city’s main touristic attractions. All this to welcome fans of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements in the virtual world.  Be welcome!
