Four new Rio 2016 stores were opened on Thursday (23 June): two in Rio’s international airport, known as Galeão, one in the intercity bus station Novo Rio and another in the airport in Brazil’s capital Brasília.
There is a wide variety of products available to fans, such as baseball caps, t-shirts, pins, stuffed-toy mascots and even a line of wines. With the recent openings, there are now 19 official Rio 2016 stores in operation, including the online store.

In the airports alone there are 16 physical spaces that are already open to the public. They are distributed in the arrivals and departure areas of terminals in Rio (Galeão and Santos Dumont), São Paulo (Congonhas and Guarulhos), Belo Horizonte (Confins), Campinas, Salvador and Brasília. All of the stores operate between 6am and 10pm. The other two stores are in Rio de Janeiro: one in Leblon and the other at the Novo Rio bus station.

And there is a big opening coming, or rather a huge one. The next official Rio 2016 store will be the megastore on alongside Copacabana beach. The 1,800 square metre space will welcome press and guests next Thursday (30 June) and open to the public on the Friday (1 July).
Over the next few weeks there will be the opening of the 4,200 square metre Olympic Park megastore as well as three superstores, one in the Athletes Village, one in the Maracanã and another in the Olympic Stadium. By the time of the Games there will be 132 stores in operation.
