New images showing some of the key venues being constructed for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games have been released by the Brazilian Federal Government.

The photographs, taken at the end of October, show venues taking shape as work enters the final straight at Barra Olympic Park, Deodoro Olympic Park and the Olympic and Paralympic Village.

Last month the Rio Municipal Government, which is project managing the construction work, released figures showing that Barra Olympic Park, which will be the heart of the Games, is now 92 per cent complete, while 12 venues across the two Olympic Parks are at least 90 per cent ready.

Check out the Rio 2016 venues map to see which sports will take place where
