Michelle Wie sets sights on Rio 2016 Games
American believes golf’s return to the Olympic programme will inspire more people to take up the sport

Golf superstar Michelle Wie has revealed her excitement about her sport’s return to the Olympic Games and said qualifying for Rio 2016 is one of her main goals. The American, 24, also spoke in a special video (below) about the sporting legacy that will be left to Brazil, thanks to the new course being built for Games.
Wie earned international fame in 2003 when she became the youngest player to make the cut at a LPGA Tour event, aged 13. The Hawaiian turned professional shortly before her 16th birthday and she remains an inspiration to young athletes around the world – in October she became an official ambassador for the Youth Olympic Games. Golf will make its debut at the Youth Olympic Games next year, in Nanjing, China.
