PSDB party Presidential candidate, José Serra, visited the Organizing Committee for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games this Wednesday 21st. Impressed with the quality of the city Olympic project, he guaranteed that, once elected, will do all possible for the event to be a fantastic one. Serra was welcomed by Rio 2016 Committee president, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, and saw a presentation on the Rio de Janeiro Olympic project, with explanations about the impact of the event in Brazil and the Rio 2016 Committee attributions and of the Olympic Public Authority (the inter-federate consortium made up by the three levels of government and responsible for the execution of the infrastructure works of the Games). “I really liked the planning, it was a high quality presentation. Everything is carefully done and that puts our trust high. I am certain that, in the world’s most beautiful city, the Olympic Games will be terrific. I will do everything that I can for that to be so”, guaranteed Serra. The improvements that the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will leave in areas such as transportation, environment and security were highlighted by José Serra. “Rio de Janeiro will gain a lot in these sectors. Besides, there will be an increase in the interest for sports, like in the Rio 2007 Pan-American Games, that were a basis for this project”, reminded Serra. Olympic Medalists like Carlão (volleyball), Nalbert (volleyball), Flávio Canto (judo), Natália Falavigna (taekwondo), Adriana Behar (beach volley) and Marcelo Ferreira (yatching); and sports Confederation presidents also attended José Serra visit. “It is very important that the candidates get to know the Rio 2016 project and the work that is done in the sports world. It was an honor to welcome José Serra and show what is already done and the next steps of our work”, said Carlos Arthur Nuzman. José Serra was the second presidential candidate to be welcomed at the Rio 2016 Committee. PV party candidate Marina Silva visited the entity on the 13th.
