IOC Coordination Commission sends message of solidarity and support to Rio de Janeiro

By Rio 2016

The Rio 2016 Olympic Games Organizing Committee received on Thursday, March 8, a message of solidarity and support from the International Olympic Committee’s Coordination Committee for the Rio 2016 Games. The message was also sent to the Minister of Sports Orlando Silva, the governor Sergio Cabral, and the mayor Eduardo Paes. Following this paragraph is whole message from the Commission of the IOC, signed by the Chairman of the Coordination Commission, Nawal El Moutawakel, and executive director, Gilbert Felli: "On behalf of the International Olympic Committee Coordination Committee for the Rio 2016 Games, we would like to express our solidarity with the people of Rio during this period of difficulty. Our thoughts are with you and, in particular with the families who lost loved ones during the atypical rains that you have faced. We are confident that Rio will continue to address this unique situation as best they can and come out even stronger than before. See you in May, when together we will continue our Olympic journey, but for now know that we are thinking of you as you deal with the consequences of this unusual event. "
