Hangout Rio 2016: Join the live chat as four expats and a carioca unpick life in Rio

By Rio 2016

In Thursday´s Hangout, broadcast in English, our guests highlight the dos and don´ts of being a foreigner in the Marvellous City

An Englishman, a Frenchman and a German will gather on Thursday evening at 7.30pm for a special May edition of the 2016 Hangout (#HangoutRio2016). If this sounds like the start of a bad joke, fear not, there will be a Brazilian to keep the peace and another Brit to moderate. Together, these five fine folk will peel back the layers of what it is like to be an ex-pat in Rio de Janeiro.

With 300,000 foreign visitors expected to arrive in Brazil during June, our guests will chat about their experiences adapting to life in the city that will host the 2014 FIFA World Cup final. From understanding the joy of feijoada (or not) to discovering forró, via finding a game of futsal that foreigners can participate in, the first 2016 Hangout broadcast entirely in English is not to be missed.

Get your questions in to #HangoutRio2016 for all our guests, including a German judoka hoping to compete at Rio 2016, a journalist specialising in advising ex-pats on how to make the most of the Marvellous City and a UK foreign correspondent.

Follow the action live on Channel 2016 on You Tube and participate via Facebook, Twitter and Google+. #HangoutRio2016.
