Great acceptance revealed in a research for the olympic games 2016 in Rio

A research performed by the Ipsos Institute has demonstrated that the Brazilian population considers the city of Rio de Janeiro very well prepared to be a candidate city to host the Olympic Games worldly sportive events.

A survey performed with a thousand inhabitants of 70 Brazilian cities and nine metropolitan areas, in August, right after the end of the Parapan American Games, showed that 85% of the people interviewed consider Rio ready to host the world level competitions.

They have also considered the organization of the Pan American and Parapan American Games Rio 2007 excellent and the average grade was 9,6 out of ten. For 95% of interviewees, the Games were relevant for the country.

The group researched was 16 to 60 and up and from distinct social classes and levels of instruction.

Rio de Janeiro is one of the cities aspiring to host the 2016 Olympic Games, together with Baku (Azerbaijan), Chicago (United States), Doha (Arab Emirates), Madrid (Spain), Prague (Czech Republic) and Tokyo (Japan). In June 2008, the International Olympic Committee is going to announce the official candidate cities to the Games. The final choice is going to happen on October 2, 2009.
