According to Rio de Janeiro's Employment and Income state secretary, Alcebíades Sabino, no other Brazilian state has so many major projects in progress. Some of these projects are: the Itaboraí Petrochemical Complex (Comperj), the Atlantic Steel Company (CSA), a Resende-based Votorantim steel company, the Steel Complex, and investments in oil exploration and production, in addition to the Duque de Caxias-based Chemical Gas Complex, at Baixada Fluminense.
"We've ended July with the country's lowest unemployment rate and a significant fall over the same period the year before. The income of employed people is about R$ 1,121 - higher than the national average - which is equivalent to R$ 1,108.30", Sabino states.
