Deadline for Brazilian residents to apply for tickets to Rio 2016 Olympic Games extended

Olympic Games tickets have been much sought after over the years (IOC/Rio 2016)

The deadline for residents of Brazil to enter the first draw for tickets to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games has been extended until 6 May. Applications were due to close on 30 April, but after confirmation that the Itaquera Arena will stage the Olympic football matches in São Paulo – and that ticket sales for these games were opening – it was decided to extend the deadline for six more days.

The extension is valid for all events across the 42 Olympic sports and the ceremonies. People who have already applied for Olympic Games tickets can still add requests for São Paulo tickets. Brazilian residents will be able to enter two draws for Olympic tickets, but only those who enter the first draw will be eligible for the second one, with those who were unsuccessful in the first draw receiving preference in the second.

Non-residents of Brazil who want to buy tickets for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games should enter into contact with the authorised ticket reseller (ATR) for their territory. Click here to see the list of ATRs. This webpage also features the ATR website checker – a window into which the public can copy the web address of any company offering Rio 2016 Olympic Games tickets, and then be told immediately if the company is an officially authorised reseller.
