The President of the Brazilian Olympic Committee and the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games [Rio 2016™], was today elected as honorary member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Nuzman’s candidature was put forward by President Jacques Rogge during the last day of meetings for the 124th IOC Session, held in London, ahead of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The application for Mr. Nuzman as an IOC honorary member was accepted unanimously by the IOC Assembly.
“It was an enormous honour to have had my name put forward by President Rogge. It is also a recognition of the work already done by the Brazilian Olympic Committee and the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and shows the importance of Brazil”, said Nuzman.
