It emerged from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro in the 1980s, blending hip-hop and electro, and became one of the most popular music genres in the city. Carioca funk – pronounced funk-ee by the locals – can be heard blearing out of speakers all around Olympic host city every day. And now there is a tribute to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in carioca funk.
Duo Negabi and Isadora have released a brand-new track to celebrate the 50-days-to-go milestone, which was celebrated on Thursday (16 June).

"The countdown's started. Not much time left. If you haven't got it, time to get with it," is a (very rough) translation of the lyrics.
The video to the new song includes views of some of the recent attractions that the city has built in the run-up to the Games, such as the Museum of Tomorrow in the renovated waterfront district.
As the two carioca funksters sing, "Rio is moving forward and change is here to stay."
