Brazil gets investment grade rating

By Rio 2016

Standard & Poor’s assessement represents improvement in Brazilian referrals and attracts foreign investments

On Wednesday, the risk rating agency Standard & Poor’s included Brazil in the roll of investment grade countries. That means a great improvement to Brazil’s referral, which starts to be considered a safe investment place.

The main benefit linked to this assessment is attracting large investors from developed countries which, according to their bylaws, are only allowed to invest in low-risk assets.

According to the American agency, the grade for Brazilian debt securities in national currency was raised to BBB+, while those issued in foreign currency are considered BBB-.

The rating disclosure gave new life to trades at São Paulo Stock Exchange (Bovespa) which leaded to a historic record at a 67,868 score. On trade close, the indicator recorded the largest daily positive variation since October 2002.
