On Monday, November 4, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown signed an Olympic cooperation agreement targeting the organization of the Olympic Games. Rio de Janeiro will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2016 and London 2012 Games.

The agreement will allow the Organizing Committee for Rio Olympic Games 2016 to learn from London’s experience of hosting 2012 Olympic Games on subject matters like organizational structure, definition of the role to be played by the government and the delivery of a sport, urban, environmental and social legacy. The document proposes an exchange of information on the organization of sporting events in both countries, and a program of observation visits by the three levels of government and Rio Organizing Committee for 2016 Olympic Games.
