Only sport that still sticks to the tradition of having amateur athletes in the Olympics, Boxing has new rules since the 2013 World Championships that were held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, until Sunday, the 27th. From Wednesday, rio2016.com website will publish exclusive articles about the “Noble Art”, so that readers can find out all the details about the sport that is expected to rock Carioca evenings in August 2016, at the arena that will be assembled in Riocentro, in Barra da Tijuca neighbourhood.
You will get to know the opinion of Brazilian and Foreign Olympic athletes, besides that of professionals like Brazilian Acelino “Popó” Freitas, former world super-featherweight and lightweight champion, on the recent changes to the sport. You will also find out news about Women’s Boxing, which made its Olympic debut in London 2012 thus unveiling the first three female Olympic champions. And you will also get to know more about great boxers that are also Olympic champions like Sugar Ray Leonard, Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis and, more recently, Ukrainian Wladimir Klitchko, besides medallists like Floyd Mayweather Jr.
