Márcia Menezes became the first Brazilian woman to win a world championship medal in 2014, silver in the -79kg

The event will provide Rio 2016 with the chance to test a variety of areas, such as venue operations, sporting equipment, national referees and anti-doping proceedures. Meloni said: “It will be a great test for the whole team while also providing the athletes with a chance to get an understanding of the venue and facilities.”
