Usain Bolt has a new record to call his own. On Wednesday (17 August), the day he ran in the 200m semi-final, the Rio de Janeiro train network registered the highest daily number of passengers in its history.
In total, the turnstiles of the Supervia rail company recorded 735,024 passengers on Wednesday, up from the previous daily best of 729,550 recorded on 8 October 2015.

The Bolt effect came close to breaking the record on Tuesday, when the Jamaican ran in his 200m heat in the Olympic Stadium. That day, 729,229 passengers used the Supervia trains.
The train is the best way for getting to the Olympic Stadium and to the Olympic venues in the Deodoro region.

Data is still not available from Supervia for Thursday, when Bolt won the 200m final. Bolt also will have one final shot at increasing his record this Friday night, in the 4x100m relay.
One thing is now certain: the Jamaican superstar has been the biggest draw at Rio 2016 and will be sorely missed when he has gone.
