'MAYBE THIS TIME NEXT WEEK HE'LL BE ASKING FOR A SELFIE WITH ME,' - REFUGEE RAMI ANIS ON PHELPS
A week after arriving at Rio 2016, the refugee swimming is getting used to being the focus of attention.

"Quite a lot of athletes from other countries have come up to me and my teammates, which has made us feel very welcome,"  said Anis, "I am living the dream."

The 25-year-old refugeee from Syria made international news last week when he revealed Michael Phelps declined his request for a selfie at the world championships in 2009.

"I hope he has read all the stories," Anis said. "Maybe this time next week he will be asking for a selfie with me," he laughs.

Anis is in action in the men's 100m freestyle tomorrow.

WORLD RECORD HOLDER MICHAEL JOHNSON IMPRESSED BY BEACH FOOTBALL
The American, who in his day dominated over 200 and 400m, is in Rio working as a pundit for the BBC. He is also finding the time to do some ambassadorial work for his foundation which works with young people through sport.

It is therefore unsurprising that he was impressed by the footwork of these young beachgoers. Standard stuff in Rio, to be honest. We're glad he's enjoying himself though.

ROWING UNDERWAY
Calmer waters out on the Lagoa mean the rowing is already in full flow this morning. Team GB and Germany took the final two spots in the men's quadruple sculls A final. The women's race is on now!

BRAZIL FANS LAMENT FRUSTRATING RESULT
While Brazil fans were obviously distraught and frustrated with the goalless draw on the football field against Iraq last night, they didn't miss a golden opportunity to riddicule their underperforming team on twitter. Here are some of the memes:

'Football lessons with Marta.'

'Iraq right now.'
