WHAT A DAY...
Katinka Hosszu won her second gold of the Games, China dominated in the diving pool, the Australian women's rugby team made Olympic history, as did the USA's first hijab-wearing athlete Ibtihaj Muhammad; Japan's gymnasts excelled, Thailand and Colombia won weightlifing golds, sailing began, Phelps swam and Bolt spoke.
But the name on everyone's lips here in Rio is Rafaela Silva, the girl from the favela who won Brazil's first gold medal of their home Olympics.
Catch your breath. We'll be back on Tuesday with more Rio-Time Updates.

WHAT DOES USAIN 'REALLY, REALLY, REALLY WANT'?
No, he's not singing a Spice Girls song. Jamaican sprint superstar Usain Bolt has revealed his determination to break the 19-second barrier in the 200m at Rio 2016.
He also discussed his fitness, his rivals and even danced a bit of samba on his only public appearance before he bids for a 'triple-triple' of gold medals. Read all about it here.

PHELPS LOSES!
But don't worry, it was just a semi-final. The American is safely though to the men's 200m butterfly final after finishing second behind Tamas Kenderesi. The Hungarian will still be able to tell his friends he beat a living legend though.
Kenderesi and Phelps were the two fastest qualifiers for the final, just ahead of reigning Olympic champion Chad le Clos of South Africa. The main event takes place on Tuesday at 10.28pm local time.

MEANWHILE, LILY KING IS PROBABLY GOING TO CRY...
The women's 100m breastroke champion said: "Tonight has been so crazy. My life is changing right now. I'm a gold medallist and it's what I've always wanted to be and it's an incredible feeling.
"I'm probably going to start crying. I'm usually not a crier but this is a special moment so we'll see if it gets to me or not."
How long do you think she can hold out?

HEROIC HOSSZU DOES IT AGAIN
Hungary's 'Iron Lady' Katinka Hosszu has clinched her second gold medal of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games as she roared to victory in the women's 100m backstroke final. USA's Kathleen Baker took silver while Kylie Masse of Canada claimed bronze.
Hossku is the first athlete to win two gold medals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, in any sport. She also won the 400m individual medley on Saturday.

SUN CLAIMS SWIMMING GOLD
China's Sun Yang edged out South Africa's Chad le Clos to win the gold medal in the men's 200m freestyle.
Sun becomes the first male swimmer to win gold in three of the five current individual men's freestyle events, having already been crowned Olympic champion in the 400m freestyle and the 1500m freestyle at London 2012.

DJOKO IS OUT - AGAIN
Novak Djokovic's Rio 2016 dream is over for the second time in roughly 24 hours after he and partner Nenad Zimonjic lost their men's doubles second round match against Brazilian pair Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares.
The home crowd gave the world no.1 a rapturous welcome when he appeared on court, but the applause now is all for the winners.
It's possible, though, that Djokovic could yet play again in Rio if he is nominated for Serbia's mixed doubles team.

RAFAELA STRIKES BACK
Brazil's golden girl Rafaela Silva has hit back at those who criticised her following her disqualification at the London 2012 Olympic Games, after which she was infamously labelled a "monkey" on social media.
"That is the answer to these people who said that judo is not for me, that I was going to make my family ashamed and that the place for monkeys is in a cage. Now I have proved to everybody that I can be on the top position in my category. (The answer is) nothing more than that medal I have around my neck."
Indeed, that's a pretty good response.

THAT'S ONE HAPPY WEIGHTLIFTER
Oscar Albeiro Figueroa Mosquera has won gold for Colombia in the men's 62kg weighlifting - the first medal for his country at these Olympic Games. He was so happy he could cry, which he did.

After a sluggish first quarter, the USA men’s basketball team rolled to a 113-69 win over Venezuela in their Group A game at the Rio 2016 Games.
The USA and Venezuela were tied 18-18 after one quarter with Venezuela forcing six turnovers and outrebounding their opponents 11-8.
The USA then pulled away to a 48-26 halftime lead and never looked back.
