KIPCHOGE LOOKS SAFE FOR GOLD
This will be by far Kipchoge's slowest marathon. He debuted at 2 hours 5 minutes, but he has a clear 36 second lead on Lilesa now. Rupp looks safe for bronze, with a fastest ever marathon for him.
LESS THAN 4KM TO GO IN THE MARATHON
The Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge looks set for the gold, the Ethiopian Feyisa Lilesa is in second and the USA's Galen Rupp is third.
DECIDING SET: USA TAKE THE FOURTH
Perhaps USA's volleyball team thought it would be more interesting to give Russia a head start. After going two sets down, they've just finished pulling those two sets back.
Winning the fourth just as they'd won the third, by 25-19, the US will hope to take that momentum into this final set.
RIO'S NOT A BAD PLACE TO ENJOY A DAY OFF
The bodies on display at Copacabana are usually products of a good few hours spent in a gym, but bristling abs like those on display yesterday are a rarity.
US gymnasts Simone Biles, Alexandra Raisman and Madison Kocian made regular in-shape beachgoers look positively lazy yesterday as they enjoyed some time off on the sands of Rio.
USA CLAIM THIRD SET
Coming back strong in the third set the USA take it 25-19. They looked to have grabbed the momentum and are already up 4-2 in the fourth.
HANDBALL BRONZE A LOCAL AFFAIR
Neighbours Germany and Poland are on court putting hand to ball in the name of winning a bronze medal. Scores stand at 2-2.
MEN'S VOLLEYBALL BRONZE
Bronze could be on its way to Russia after another close set was taken by the men in blue, who now lead 2-0.
A TALE OF GOLD: TEAM GB SURPASS ALL EXPECTATIONS
No country has increased its medal tally at the Summer Olympics following the one it hosted, but Great Britain has officially done that.
Part of the success has been down to repeat golds from the likes of boxer Nicola Adams and distance running king Mo Farah. Though, first-time gold medal winners such as kayaker Liam Heath have upgraded medals won at previous games.
In the spirit of competition, it's also worth mentioning that not since China's 1984 debut have Team GB ever finished above them. An amazing feat when you consider the population size of both countries.

RUNNING IN THE RAIN: THE MARATHON GETS GOING!
While our morning posts usually start along the lines of what a beautiful day it is here in Rio, this group of runners are probably thankful for a break in the 30 degree winter weather for some good old tropical rain.
Pre-race favourite is Eliud Kipchoge, who's currently with the leading pack. Here's that route again...
GOING OUT WITH A BANG
The boxing competition at Rio 2016 is going to end in high style, with the super heavyweight showdown between Great Britain's Joe Joyce and Tony Yoka of France.
There's no love lost between the two: in the run-up to the bout Yoka has got under Joyce's skin by calling him a robot. Expect fireworks.
