MICHAEL PHELPS IS ALREADY MISSING RIO
While some US swimmers have left Brazil in a hurry and under something of a cloud (mentioning no names), Michael Phelps is only just a couple of days into his retirement and is already missing Rio de Janeiro. He's left a nice message for the city on Twitter.

GOLF LEADERS TEE OFF
The leading group of women's golfers have all driven off on hole one. It's all poised for a fascinating showdown between Korean golfing great Imbee Park (-11) and the young pretender from New Zealand, Lydia Ko (-9). Gerina Miller of the USA is also in the mix at 9 under par.

BIG DAY OF BADMINTON
Masses of Chinese fans have gathered at Riocentro to cheer on their man Lin Dan in the unusual position of having to fight it out for bronze against Denmark's Viktor Axelsen. The Dane is currently 8-7 up in the first game.

When that match is over, we have the small matter of the gold medal encounter between Malaysia's much fancied Lee Chong Wei against China's Chen Long.

BOM DIA
It's the penultimate day of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and that means one thing – gold. We have gold coming up in men's badminton, water polo and diving and women's golf, basketball and handball, to mention just a few.

First up is the golf and some canoeing action on the Lagoa, two of the most scenic locations of the Rio 2016. Surely there has never been such a stunning setting for the Games. In about one hour, Isaquias Queiroz will be trying to paddle his way to gold in the canoe double 1000m and become the first Brazilian to win three medals in one Games. He's got silver and bronze so far; will it will be a golden Saturday for Queiroz?
