RIO 2016'S KEVIN DARLING AT THE MARACANA
You'll never guess who the most popular guy outside the Maracana stadium is right now. It's none other than Brazil's footballing nemesis, Diego Maradona. The legendary Argentina no.10 can't move for people trying to take selfies with him. I just counted him posing for photos with 73 separate Brazilian fans within a single minute. He's more than happy with the adulation, while the locals don't seem to begrudge him that World Cup he won for their great rivals. In fact he's the holding the trophy in his right hand, along with a Brazil flag. Is it the real Diego Maradona? I couldn't say for certain, but I did notice that that his Spanish wasn't very good.

WHO TAUNTS BEST?
Intense gamesmanship outside the Maracana stadium as Germany and Brazil football fans file inside the iconic 80,000-seat stadium.
Marcelo de Paula, 25, is one. Wearing a shirt that declares "Jesus has arrived" in celebration of Brazil's Gabriel Jesus, he was lifted by a pack of fans and carried on their shoulders through the concourse, chanting "Gabriel Jesus is ours!"
Elsewhere, a group of well-decorated German fans gave an interview to a Colombian television crew and were surrounded by Brazilians who drowned them out with rhyming taunts of "The Germans can wait! Your time will come!" A German man had a dagger of a response, reminding the hosts in his heavy accent about The 7-1, Germany's embarassing defeat of Brazil at home in 2014. That's when a Brazilian answered with the cry that has not been surpassed "pentacampeãoooo," which names five-time World Cup champion Brazil.
SHOW YOUR COLOURS
It's starting to rain outside the Maracana, but look for Rafael Gomes near Gate F — portao F.
The football fan travelled from Salvador, Bahia with acrylic paint and brushes to colour in Germany and Brazil flags on the faces of spectators. It was his dream to visit Rio de Janeiro, and what a day to arrive!

TUNE IN NOW: SPAIN AND USA PLAY FOR GOLD IN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
At Arena Carioca 1, the women's gold medal basketball game is in the second quarter with the USA leading Spain 29-24. Alba Torrens has 12 points for Spain. The Europeans are techincally sound but don't have the deep bench of the USA.
Spain's best weapon wil be to push the pace and keep the gold-medal favourites within reach on the scoreboard.
THE MARACANA IS ABOUT TO GO OFF
More than two hours before the start of the men's gold medal football match, fans are cramming onto the metro to reach the Maracana stadium.
They shout the name of their country, which comes out like "Brasiuuuuu" in Portuguese and also chant "Rumo ao ouro!" This second one is a promise and a plea, meaning, "On our way to get the gold!"
WILL BRAZIL HAVE VENGANCE FOR THE 7-1
Outside the Maracana, Patrick Lunau and Bruno Tartari believe it will be a "soft" victory with Brazil winning 3-0 over Germany "without having a heartache".
The men's gold medal football match begins at 5:30pm. Brazil crave redemption for the World Cup thrashing.

GOLD FOR CUBA!
Robeisy Ramirez Carrazana pounded his chest and pointed to the floor at the bell as Shakur Stevenson walked back to his corner - deflated, seemingly accepting that for now at least, this is still the Cuban's domain.
Stevenson stood, his arm half-raised, waiting for the announcement, but the result was never in doubt. Though he'd managed to edge the second round, the Cuban came out quickly in the first and finished with a bang in the third. Stevenson looked visibly rattled as he was unable to dictate the fight the way his superior reach usually allows him to.
Life goes on for the 19-year-old American, though, and endorsements from the likes of Floyd Mayweather are certainly a sign of better days to come.
Another Olympic gold for Carrazana. At just 22-years-old, he'll be a force in boxing for years to come.

MEN'S BANTAMWEIGHT FINAL: SHAKUR STEVENSON v ROBEISY RAMIREZ CARRAZANA
Chants of 'USA, USA' are being met with 'CUBA, CUBA'. This fight is already the fight of the Games thus far as these two contrasting styles clash.
Carrazana is making life uncomfortable for the American, who usually looks as slick as the man who he has been compared to: Floyd Mayweather. He's been dragged into a scrap here.
NICOLA ADAMS TAKES GOLD AND MAKES HISTORY
What a sharp performance! Adams was at her dancing best taking on Sarah Ourahmoune in the women's flyweight final. In an interesting contrast to the men's fights, which seem to have become more defensive without the presence of headgear, both fighters let their hands loose.
The British fighter took the fight by 3-0, which is probably an unfair display of the performance the French woman put in.
Adams' gold takes Team GB's total to 26, one step closer to the London 2012 total of 29.
DECIDING SET AT THE MARACANÃZINHO
The Netherlands and the USA are tied at one set each in the women's volleyball bronze medal match. It's currently the third and final set and the teams are tied at 8-points each.
INBEE PARK CRUISES TO GOLD
Inbee Park has cruised to victory with a five-shot margin. Lydia Ko of New Zealand took the silver and Shanshan Feng of China picked up the bronze.
The Hall of Famer never looked like loosening her grip on the gold today as she struck birdie after birdie. The gold was Korea's twentieth, making Rio 2016 the eigth straight summer Olympics at which the country has won at least 20 medals.
SERBIA WIN FIRST WOMEN'S BASKETBALL MEDAL
It's bronze for Serbia's women as they overcome France to take their first-ever medal in basketball. The game ended 70-63.
FUN AND DANCING AT PRAÇA XV
Rio's famous square Praça XV has been home to a live site since the start of the Games. Fans have been able to watch international stars competing on a big screen while enjoying some local entertainment on the stage. At the square today is Nara Figueiredo and her group of Romani dancers.
"Romani culture has a lot to do with the Olympic spirit of uniting people. Romani people also have our annual sports competitions. So today we're here to show our culture," said Figueiredo.
