GREAT BRITAIN-NETHERLANDS HOCKEY EQUAL AT HALF
It has been a whirlwind first half of action at the Olympic Hockey Centre, that leaves the two sides level at 2-2. Great Britain went a goal up, then the world no.1 Dutch equalised and then went ahead, before plucky Great Britain squared it again. Great Britain’s women are targeting a first Olympic gold medal; an upgrade on their London 2012 bronze. Despite winning all their matches at Rio 2016 so far, including a 3-0 defeat of New Zealand in the semi-final, they are the underdogs here against the reigning Olympic and world champions, who are eyeing their third straight title. HOCKEY FINAL ALL SQUARE
There's an exciting women's hockey gold medal match taking place at the Olympic Hockey Centre. Underdogs Great Britain took a surprise early lead through Lily Owsley, but Kitty van Male has just levelled things up for the world no.1-ranked Netherlands - dribbling the puck around the goalkeeper and firing expertly into the roof of the goal. Game on.

USA INTO GOLD MEDAL BASKETBALL FINAL
USA defeat Spain 82-76 in the men's basketball semi-final and remain on course to give coach Mike Krzyzewski the perfect send-off, with a third consecutive Olympic gold medal. It was a rematch of the 2008 and 2012 Olympic gold medal matches, but Spain fell short once again. The USA will face the winner of Australia-Serbia game in the final, on Sunday (21 August).
Kyrie Irving said good defense was the key to victroy. "Defensive awareness, limiting them to one shot per possession.
We didn't play particularly great in the preliminary rounds. When it matters most, we're peaking at the right time."
FRANCE EDGE GERMANY IN HANDBALL CLASSIC
This is a handball game they will be talking about for a long time. France looked to be cruising into the men's final until Germany launched as astonishing comeback, fighting back from seven goals down to level the scores at 28-28 with one minute remaining.
But it was all for nothing. France's Daniel Narcisse sent a last-second goal into the bottom left corner and France triumphed 29-28. They will meet Poland or Denmark in the gold medal match.

WALKING GOLD FOR CHINA AND SLOVAKIA
China's Liu Hong has won the women's 20km walk, following Matej Toth's gold medal in the men's 50km race walk for Slovakia earlier.
There was some added drama in the men's race when bronze medallist Hirooki Arai of Japan was disqualified for a collison with fourth-placed Canadian Evan Dunfee, only to be reinstated later following a counter-protest.
FRANCE AND GERMANY IN HANDBALL TUSSLE
Just like at the football European Championships last month, France and Germany are going head-to-head in a semi-final - and this time it's in Rio 2016 Olympic Games men's handball. France won that football match and they are also leading with their hands - it's 20-15 to the French and the second half is under way.

USA LEAD IN BASKETBALL
USA and Spain are locked in a basketball battle for a place in the gold medal final. The USA leads 45-39 at the half, in what is a rematch of the 2008 and 2012 finals, both won by the USA. The USA is no dream team, and yet to fire on all cylinders. It's a tight contest so far, but without the injured Marc Gasol the Spanish are simply no match in terms of talent. But they are playing some good team basketball, and anything can happen....
CONNOR DESTROYS THE FIELD
The Rio 2016 men's BMX gold medal has been won by the USA's Connor Fields and - to be fair to the 23-year-old - he did tell us so.
Aged 15, he wrote on the wall of his family's garage, "One day I will be national and world champion," later adding that he would also one day become Olympic champion. His parents never erased the messages and they are still there.
ITALY INTO THE VOLLEYBALL FINAL
Italy have beaten the Beijing 2008 champions USA in the semi-finals of the men’s volleyball, and will face either Brazil or Russia in the gold medal match on Sunday. The Italians won the tie-breaker fifth set 15-9, to clinch a 136-minute epic contest. Italy will hope to make it third time lucky, after taking silver in their previous final appearances at Athens 2004, and Atlanta 1996.
SKELTON, 58, WINS GOLD
Britain's Nick Skelton has won gold in the equestrian individual jumping - and at 58 years old that makes him GB's oldest Olympic champion since 1908 and second oldest ever! Rio 2016 is Sketlon's sixth Olympic Games - he first competed in Seoul 88 - and this is his first individual medal. An incredible story.
