FELIX MAKES OLYMPIC HISTORY
No woman has won more Olympic Games gold medals on the track.

USA DEFEND SPRINT RELAY TITLE

Running in lane one, the USA have retained the women's 4x100m relay crown they won at London 2012, with Allyson Felix, Tori Bowie, English Gardner and Tianna Bartoletta speeding to victory in a time of 41.01 seconds. Jamaica took the silver medal, while Great Britain claimed bronze.

Time to see some fast women in action. It's the women's 4x100m relay final.

The USA's Sandi Morris matches her. It could be a two-woman race for pole vault gold.

Greece's Ekaterini Stefanidi clears 4.85m in the pole vault... she's the first woman to do so this evening.

HANDBALL BATTLE GOES THE DISTANCE

There's an epic men's handball semi-final taking place between Poland and Denmark at Future Arena. The sides were tied 25-25 at the end of normal time so we're currently into extra time, with the Danes having pulled ahead 28-25. You get the feeling that on isn't over yet though.

OUTSTANDING IN THEIR FIELD

Four athletes - including teenage New Zealander Eliza McCartney - have cleared 4.80 metres in an intriguing women's pole vault final, while Tajikistan's Dishod Nakavov is currently leading the men's hammer final with a throw of 78.07 metres.

CHERUIYOT STUNS AYANA WITH RECORD RUN

Kenya's Vivian Cheruiyot has beaten hot favourite Almaz Ayana in the 5000m, winning gold in an Olympic record time of 14 minutes, 16.17 seconds. Ethiopian Ayana, who won the 10,000m, led for much of the race but was pegged back by Cheruiyot and ended up finishing way back in third.

ALMAZ AIMS FOR GOLD NO.2

We've just got under way in the women's 5000m. Ethiopia's Almaz Ayana, the reigning world champion, is a strong favourite to add another title to the 10,000m Olympic gold she has already won at Rio 2016. Can anyone stop her?

STAR OF THE SHOW

Rio 2016 mascot Vinicius has been basking in the love of fans at the Olympic Park live site. The yellow guy treated spectators to a special mascot dance, because that's the kind of thing he does.

PHELPS IS MISSING YOU ALREADY

That's what he says. The greatest ever Olympian - who collected five golds and a silver medal at Rio 2016 - has paid tribute to the carioca nation in a couple of very nice tweets. At least he's got all those medals to take to bed with him when he feels nostalgic.

SERBIA SHAKE THE BOOMERS

The men's basketball final will take place on Sunday (21 August) between the USA and Serbia, who have beaten Australia 87-61. There were just three points between the two finalists when they met in the group phase. It could be a classic.

ONE MORE FOR THE COLLECTION

Usain Bolt has just been up to collect his gold medal for his men's 200m victory in the Olympic Stadium last night. That makes it eight career golds in total for the world's fastest man. Tonight he goes for one more - maybe the last of all. Bolt will run in Jamaican 4x100m relay team at 10.35pm.

POLE IN THE HAMMER, AMERICAN IN POLE
Over at the Olympic Stadium, medals will be decided in the women’s pole vault, the women's 5000m and the men’s hammer. Pole vault is under way and the first round of the 4x400m women’s relay have also begun.

The women’s pole vault will be missing Brazil’s former world champion and medal hope Fabian Murer, who failed to qualify. Defending champion Jennifer Suhr of the USA looks the favourite.

The men’s hammer is wide open after Poland’s world champion Pawel Fajdek, unbeaten since March last year, failed to qualify. Poland could still be on the podium as world bronze medallist Wojciech Nowicki is in the line-up. ~

The last events of the evening are the men's and women's 4x100m relay finals, which both include Jamaica, and, of course, you know who...

HOCKEY CHAMPIONS IN DISBELIEF

Great Britain's dramatic shoot-out victory against favourites Holland in the women's hockey gold medal match was possibly a bit too dramatic for the winners. They still can't quite believe they've won gold.

"I don't think I can really put it into words yet. It hasn't really sunk in. I don't really know what's happened," said winning goalscorer Hollie Webb.

Her team-mate - goalkeeper Maddie Hinch - appeared to be similarly dazed, adding: "It hasn't sunk in it all. It feels like we're in a dream. This whole tournament feels like we are gonna wake up tomorrow and go do our recovery and play another game of hockey."

Get used to it, girls. YOU'RE OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS!
