BOM DIA
Good morning from Rio, where after nearly two weeks of action we are now done to the business end in some classic Olympic sports: basketball, volleyball, hockey, handball, water polo, beach volleyball and the like. You want medals? We've got medals. From here on in, it's pretty much all semi-finals and finals.
First up today at Rio's stunning Lagoa Stadium is some canoe sprint action, with local boy Isaquias Queiroz a real contender in the 200m.

ATÉ LÁ!
That's it for day 12 of the Games. We've had a sensational day of sport that has included a new sprint double champion, a USA clean sweep on the track, table tennis history made, the first woman to win four straight individual golds and some late-night thrillers.
If you haven't already, go check out all of the highlights!
Until tomorrow.
GOLD ON THE SAND FOR GERMANY
Despite a full-capacity crowd behind them, the Brazilian pair were simply overpowered by the Germans, who barely put a foot wrong in their straight sets win. Neither Laura Ludwig or Kira Walkenhorst had won an Olympic medal before today.
