WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEMI-FINAL: SPAIN v SERBIA

Kiwi pair Peter Burling and Blair Tuke have taken gold in in the 49er medal race at Guanabara Bay. The pair finished eleven seconds ahead of the French and Danish teams, who took silver and bronze respectively.

SERBIA WILL PLAY FOR GOLD IN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Serbia knocked out the USA 20-25, 25-17, 25-21, 16-25, 15-13 and will meet either China or the Netherlands following the second semi-final tonight at 10:15pm.

BOXING: SHAKUR GETS HIS WISH FOR FINAL MATCH-UP
Shakur Stevenson, the 19-year-old Floyd Mayweather has called the next Floyd Mayweather, was given a walkover in his semi-final and will now fight for gold against Robeisy Ramirez of Cuba on Saturday.
He took to instagram to post about his desire to fight the reigning champion in the final.
JAPAN CLINCH BADMINTON GOLD
In women's doubles badminton, Japan's Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi won gold over Denmark after a close three-set battle that ended 18-21, 21-9, 21-19.
This is the first time China have not won the event in 20 years.

TRIATHLON TRIUMPH COMES FROM BROTHERS WHO 'PUSH EACH OTHER TO THE MAX'
Alistair Brownlee defended his London 2012 title and said he and his younger brother Jonothan wanted the double gold four years ago. "This time we pulled it off," he said after winning the men's triathlon with his brother finishing seven seconds later for silver.
"When Jonny crossed the line, I said to him, 'We've done it'. We've both had tough years. We push each other to the max. To see my little brother come over the line 10 seconds after you is phenomenal. It's so satisfying."

BADMINTON WOMEN'S DOUBLES FINAL
There is an equally engrossing match going on over at Riocentro 4 where there is a gold medal up for grabs in the badminton women's doubles final.
World no.1 duo, Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi of Japan take on Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Juhl Rytter of Denmark. The Danes took the first set 21-18, but the women from Japan have responded strongly in the second set as they currently lead 13-5.
