HANDBALL: DENMARK THROUGH TO SEMI-FINALS
Denmark have defeated Slovenia 37-30 in their quarter-final of the men's handball. Who they play in the semis will be decided at 8:30pm, when Croatia take on Poland.
ALEX DANSON SCORES HER FIFTH GOAL OF THE GAMES
Alex Danson scored her fifth goal of the Olympic Games and her second goal of the women's hockey semi-final match against New Zealand, giving GB a 3-0 lead.
HANDBALL HAS WON OVER THE RIO CROWDS
Handball always proves to be a crowd favourite at the Summer Games. Fans usually come in without much prior knowledge of the sport but are quickly enticed by the high-octane matches full of agression and acrobatic moves.
Put all of that into an arena brimming with Brazilians fans and you've got an atmosphere worthy of the sport being played.
Great Britain maintains their 1-0 lead against New Zeland at the end of the third quarter. If they keep it up, the Great Britain women's hockey team will face off against the Netherlands on Friday!
BRAZIL v GERMANY FINAL AT THE MARACANÃ
The hosts will have their chance for revenge over the team who thrashed them in their own back yard at the 2014 World Cup.
Matthias Ginter is the only player from this Olympic squad who was present that night, and he was an unused sub, but that won't play much in the minds of the Brazilians, who are in desperate need of winning back some pride.
Germany have made it 2-0 in their semi-final with Nigeria. Looks like the hosts will be given the chance to avenge their World Cup nightmare. Just minutes to go!
TUNE IN NOW: ASHTON EATON CONTINUES JOURNEY TO SECOND GOLD
2012 Olympic Champion Ashton Eaton of the USA is continuing his journey to defend his gold medal in the decathlon. If he's successful, Eaton will become the first decathlete to do so since Daley Thompson of Great Britain pulled it off in 1984.
As the current world record holder in the event, Eaton has set himself apart as the clear favorite. Today, he completed the long jump and 100m, placing first and second respectively. Ahead of him is the high jump and 400-metre dash before the competition resumes tomorrow.
Candian heptathlete and bronze medalist Brianne Theisen-Eaton tweeted out a photo of her support for her husband at the start of the competition.
NIGERIA RUNNING OUT OF TIME
Germany are still one up in São Paulo and Nigeria have about 15 minutes left with which to try and turn this around. The momentum isn't in their favour. This tournament seems destined for a Brazil v Germany final.

WATERPOLO SEMI-FINAL: USA v HUNGARY
Reignging women's waterpolo champions the USA are heading into the fourth quarter with a comfortable 12-8 lead over Hungary. The winners will play Italy for gold on Friday.

WOMEN'S GOLF TEES OFF
Today marked the first day of women's golf at the Olympics since 1900. Many of the world's top-ranked golfers were competing with Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand, ranked no. 2 in the LPGA, ending Round 1 in first place. Jutanugarn shot six-under-par 65, just one stroke ahead of second-place Inbee Park of South Korea.
Lexi Thompson, Gerina Piller and Stacy Lewis of the USA all finished under par, with Lewis barely making the cut just one stroke under par at 70.
