VOLLEYBALL: BRAZIL v ARGENTINA, 10:15PM
The match of the night is almost upon us. You've read the headlines, we don't know need to tell you what the atmosphere is going to be like in the Maracanãzinho tonight. Take away the fact that the winner goes to the semi-finals to take on reigning Olympic champions Russia, this on it's own is BIG!

Here's a shot of the volunteers who have been helping to make it all happen.

Long jump: Tianna Bartoletta has entered the race with a season's best jump of 6.94m. The American is just 1cm behind the lead.

Long jump: And Ivana Spanovic does respond! The serb jumps 6.95m to steal first place.

WOMEN'S LONG JUMP FINAL
The women's long jump is underway at the Olympic Stadium. The Athletes are just getting started but already Germany's Malaika Mihambo has stamped her authority with a 6.83m leap. Let's see if Ivana Spanovic, favourite after qualifying, can respond.

US SPRINTERS TURN IT UP A NOTCH
All three US women in the 100m hurdles semi-finals ran faster times to win their respective heats.

'I THINK WE GOT OUR SWAGGER BACK' - PAUL GEORGE, USA
Small forward Paul George said: "I think we got our swagger back, both offensively and defensively. We were confident shooting shots, we were aggressive all night. Previous games we would have got some technicals (technical fouls) and gave away some free money. I thought tonight we kept our poise."

On the atmosphere created by the strong Argentine and Brazilian contingents in the crowd:

"This is really top five. This is amazing. We didn't understand what they were saying but the environment was crazy. I'm happy they sent (Luis) Scola (Argentina) and Manu (Ginobili, Argentina) off on a great note."

USA SWEEP IN THE WOMEN'S 100M HURDLES?
Team USA had two of the top times in the heats, with Brianna Rollins leading the field in a time of 12.54, and was Kristi Castlin not far behind. Nia Ali qualified with the sixth fastest time but should have more in the tank come the semis.

The semi-finals start at 8:45pm and the final will be held at 10:55pm.

'E-LI-MINADO' - THE CROWD CHANTS AS USA OVERPOWER ARGENTINA
'Eliminated' came the the chants from the Brazilian crowd watching Argentina succumb to a free-flowing USA team. There were enough Argentine flag-wavers in the crowd to eventually drown out the chants but they could not do anything to change the scoreline: 105-78.

The USA never looked letting their first quarter lead slip as they drained threes from every curve of the arch. Kevin Durant led the way, hitting seven of his nine three-point attempts. If the men from the NBA have wobbled a couple of times in the tournament so far, they seem to have changed gear.

After the game, Durant told SporTV: "Everybody was in the zone today, we played with passion and intensity."

Team USA leads Argentina 87-61 at the end of the third quarter. The winner of this game faces Spain on Friday.

MEN'S TEAM TABLE TENNIS FINAL
China are up against Japan in this one and let's just say if the past 24 years are anything to go by, the Chinese must be confident. 1992 was, afterall, the last time a table tennis gold medal went to anyone but a Chinese player.
