HOLLAND HOCKEY HEROES
The Netherlands have reached the women's hockey semi-finals after a 3-2 win against fellow gold-medal favourites Argentina. Goals from Lidewij Welten, Laurien Leurink and Kelly Jonker put the Dutch in control, with two late strikes for the South Americans not enough. Holland will meet Germany in the last four, while Great Britain take on New Zealand in the other match.

It looks as if the rain has stopped and the hurdlers are coming back on...
AN EXTRA HURDLE
It's no surprise they brought the athletes off in those conditions. An excessive amount of hurdles seemed to be tumbling in the early men's 110m heats.

WET AND WILD
We're in the midst of an almighty storm in Rio this evening. The men's 110m hurdlers and the women's discus qualifiers have had the worst of it at the Olympic Stadium, while the puck is also moving pretty swiftly on the Olympic Hockey Centre pitch.

BASKETBALL: SPAIN ADVANCE AT BRAZIL'S EXPENSE
Brazil were hoping the Argentina men's basketball team would do them a favour at Carioca Arena 1 this evening. They haven't.
An Argentina win against Spain in preliminary group B would have sent Brazil into the quarter-finals, but instead it's Spain who have made the last four after prevailing 92-73 in their must-win clash. Brazil are out.

HOLLAND LEAD CLASH OF THE HOCKEY HEAVYWEIGHTS
The Netherlands have taken an early lead in their quarter-final clash against Argentina - Lidewij Welten striking in the fifth minute.
RIO 2016: THE GAMES OF LOVE!
We've already had two marriage proposals at Rio 2016 (here and here), and now it looks as if we have another. British athlete Tom Bosworth, who finished sixth in the men's 20km walk, has just posted the tweet below. And sure, we know the happy couple are just on the beach so they're not strictly AT the Olympic Games. We're still claiming the proposal hat-trick though!
ONE PLACE LEFT IN HOCKEY SEMIS
Great Britain's women have beaten Spain 3-1 to book their place in the last four of the Rio 2016 hockey tournament, joining Germany and New Zealand who won their matches earlier. The fourth quarter-final is the one we've been waiting for though. Netherlands and Argentina, the world's two top-ranked teams, face off at 8.30pm. It promises to be a classic.
SAILING BLOWN AWAY
If you're wondering why you didn't see any sailing results this afternoon, that's because a sudden gale prevented the final Laser and Laser Radial sailing events from going ahead. Both medal races are re-scheduled for the reserve day, Tuesday 16 August. Before the gale, it was lovely out there in Guanabara Bay.
