The USA won silver and Canada took bronze.

WHEN YOU'RE SO THIRSTY AND YOU JUST CAN'T ANYMORE
The Matildas gave the home side — and now favourites for gold — Brazil a serious scare last night in the women's football tournament quarter-finals as their scoreless match went to penalties. The socceroos have everything to be proud of, including making us smile with their water-bottle antics. Good on ya, Aussies.

Madison Keys of the USA has been broken by the Czech Republic's Petra Kvitova in the third set of the women's singles bronze medal match. The Czech won the first set after a tie-break but looked to have lost her momentum when she dropped the second set 6-2. It's still anybody's game!
