NADAL BEATS HOME FAVOURITE IN QUARTER-FINALS
Brazilian tennis player Thomaz Bellucci's run at Rio 2016 has come to an end in the quarter-finals of the men's singles event after he lost 6-2, 4-6, 2-6 to Rafael Nadal.
Bellucci equalled Brazilian tennis legend Gustavo Kuerten's best Olympic campaign by reaching the last eight but was unable to go one better.
Nadal is also set to get his hands on a medal this evening in the men's doubles gold medal match alongside Marc Lopez against Romanian pair Horia Tecau and Florin Mergea.

FIRST GOLD FOR THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF KOREA
Rim Jong Sim obliterated the field in the women's +75kg weighlifting to win gold for the People's Republic of Korea, their first of Rio 2016. The 23-year-old lifted a total of 274kg, which was 16kg more than silver medallist Darya Naumava of Belarus. Spain's Lidia Valentin Perez took bronze.
