GOLD and the WORLD RECORD for Katie Ledecky!

Ledecky has opened up a sizeable lead at the half-way point - and she's doing it in world record time so far.

No time to catch our breath in the pool. Up next is the women's 800m freestyle final, with Katie Ledecky aiming for another gold...

PHELPS LOSES!

You haven't read it wrong. Singapore's Joseph Schooling touches the wall first in an Olympic record time of 50.39 seconds to win Singapore's first ever gold medal! Phelps takes silver, along with Chad le Clos and Laszlo Cseh as all three swimmers finish in the identical time of 51.14.

Guess who's back. Phelps is back. It's time for the men's 100m butterfly final...

NO FOURTH GOLD FOR HOSSZU

But by the tightest of margins. Madeline Dirado gets her fingertips to the wall just six-hundredths of a second quicker than the Hungarian double-gold medallist - and it's yet another gold in the pool for Team USA.

Katinka Hosszu is going for ANOTHER gold in the pool. It's the women's 200m backstroke final...

DOUBLES GOLD FOR NADAL AND LOPEZ
After reaching the semi-finals of the men's singles finals just a few hours ago, Nadal teams up with his Spanish doubles partner Marc Lopez to defeat Romanian duo Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau.

KIANOUSH, KIANOUSH, WILL HE DO THE FANDANGO?

He might do after this. Iranian weightlifter Kianoush Rostami has won gold in the men's 85kg weightlifing AND broken the world record with a total of 396kg. Even more incredibly, that just 1kg more than silver medallist Tian Tao of China. Romanian Gabriel Sincraian's 390kg for bronze isn't too shabby either. What a final.

USA HOLD ON!

Wow. A last-gasp three-point effort from Serbia hits the rim and the USA survive! But that's the closest an American basketball team - men or women - has come to not winning at match at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games so far. Well played Serbia.

Tense finish here! 5.2 seconds on the clock. USA lead by three. Serbia will have possession at the restart.

Serbia are making a right old go of it against the USA in men's basketball. It's 94-91 to the Americans with 1:15 remaining...

FOOTBALL GOLD UP FOR GRABS

That shock defeat for the USA women's football team earlier will have boosted the hopes of the teams left in the competition that they can be the first team that isn't the US to win gold for 16 years.

Following Sweden's famous win, Germany were the second team to make it into the semi-finals on Friday with a victory against China. They have now been joined by Canada, who beat France 1-0 courtesy of Sophie Schmidt's goal.

Next up, Brazil v Australia. It kicks off in an hour's time and it's huge.

SERBIA STAY IN TOUCH WITH USA... JUST

We're into the final quarter in the USA v Serbia basketball game and the European underdogs are still in touch with their illustrious opponents, just about. The USA were ahead by 10 at the end of the third quarter but that lead has since been reduced to seven. It's 73-65 and, if Serbia are going to pull off a shock, they need to make their move now.

IT'S A DECIDER IN THE DOUBLES

Romanians Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau have won the second set against Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez to level the scores at 1-1, so will have a decider. Probably something Nadal could do without having already come through a men's singles match today. Will fatigue play a factor?

Live scores.
